				2.4 with 2.2 pistons

Wayne's book discusses putting 2.2 pistons in a 2.4 to increase the compression. I am thinking of doing this, as well as E cams. Wayne's book only references "S" motors. I have a T 2.4, and a I have some 2.2 T pistons lying around. My 2.4 is not in need of a rebuild, but its out of the car while the car is being restored/modified. Assuming that the 2.2 pistons are in acceptable conditions, can I just put them in the motor without any machining or other modifications? Does Wayne's suggestions also apply to T motors? The care is for the street, but I would like all the juice I can get. I should note that I am using Weber 40 ADA's.

I may be wrong here but I was told you need the 2.2 "S" pistons for that one. I know thats what my second motor will be....:-) Of course then a cam.....(S or E???)

I'm pretty sure you will need to cut the notch bigger on the exhaust pocket just a tick for clearance. This can be done fairly cheap, I had a set of heads resurfaced and pistons pockets cut for I think $300.00. I have almost the same setup, but used 2.7S heads (bigger ports) that were milled .030. I had to cut the exhaust pockets on the piston .040 for valve clearance. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that it will be real close. You would have to do a test fit. You will enjoy the extra H.P with E cams and 2.2 pistons. If you already have the cams and pistons and doing the work yourself, try it. It will only cost a couple hundred if need machine work.
