Woah... nice progress. Looks like you're about ready for the moment of truth.

Ok now I have issues...tried to start it today.
1. Fan is rubbing in housing 2. Fuel is leaking from engine hose (I don't know where yet) 3. Engine will not turn over by the fan pulley 4. The fuse I pulled for the fuel pump evidently is the wrong one. 5. Starter is not spinning.

1. You had 3 nuts to tighten the fan into the housing, possibly not equally tight.
2/ Fuel leaking is standard problem on the Carrera. I ll take a picture later and include all the possible leaks. 3 You might be filled with gas in a cylinder, pull the plugs and see if it turns then. 4 You shouldnt hear the fuel pump running when youre starting the engine. The relay under the seat controls the fuel pump circuit. 5/ A lot of the Carrera starters have 2 attachment points possible with the 5mm screw, try the second further out point. I ll get a couple pictures separately for you. Bruce |

Thanks Bruce, the fan was fine until I put the belt on. The fuel leak is on the passenger side on the back of the engine.
I am thinking the fuse I pulled has something to do with the starter not spinning.

this is the fuel line from the filter (long hose, no attachment yet) to the rear connectors each side of the fan to fuel rails.
The long hose to the trar of the picture crosses left to right to the vacuum pods. The small loop off the vacuum pod hose is a leak possible too. Starter end of the bendex you can see both small screw hole for the yellow wire..only one works. Bruce ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Back of the engine where the fan is or where we cannot see forward?

Where we can't see forward. I could hear it dripping.

That would be the forward hose between the pods. the picture is the right forward connector. Remove the aircleaner box and this is visible.

That's what I was thinking Bruce.
Is the power for the starter on the engine wiring harness or is there another wire under the car for power? These are the only wires I connected to the starter. ![]()

There should be 2 wires on the heavy connector on the starter. One red from the alternator and one black coming along the transmission or the right stuck up behhind a brake line or shock or hot air tube. Thats the power from the battery.

Damn glad I didn't burn it to the ground, I did not connect the power to the starter and had a fuel leak almost on top of it.
Do I need to remove the DME relay to prime the oil pump?

You shouldnt need to prime the fuel pump but yes if you do, run a jumper from the battery to the fuel pump fuse, that will make the pump run and charge the system. If you have a leak the work is fruitless.

To do the oil system, yes pull the relay and no plugs in and turn it for enough to see the pressure on the guage fluctuate. Then you know you have oil to the cams and through the whole system.

Bruce, it was exactly as you said.
Both ends of the fuel line where leaking at the regulators and the u shaped line was also leaking. The fan was exactly what you said. I did not have the alternator seated in the housing. I pulled the plugs and turned the engine with the fan. I will turn it over with the starter tomorrow and build oil pressure. If all goes well I will start it tomorrow. Thanks for all the help.

Remember if it doesnt start and everything seems to be in place, the flywheel sensors are the same but do 2 different things. If they wernt marked, change them and once you get started, put some fingernail polish on one set so there is no mistake next time.
