Has anyone put a 78-79 CIS system on an 80-83 motor?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have an '81 3.0 that I am putting in a 75. The CIS system that came with the motor needs a computer system and it was missing some components. In event I ended up buying a complete system from a '78.

So obviously I have 34mm port heads, with a 38.5mm intake port CIS. When I first purchased the system I was not worried b/c I read in a book that the 80-83 ROW engines had the smaller intake ports and they ran the bigger CIS systems, but after finding some pictures of a '81 ROW taken apart (thanks NoEardGoat) it appears that they also have the big port heads.

The motor will be running a DC19 cam, headers and a stock muffler.

So my question to everyone else is: would using the '78 CIS system help or hurt the motor? I also have the option of backdating the '81 system (I believe).

Also does anyone have any experience with the DC19 cam?
