2.2E pistons on 2.2T cylinders ?
hello
I renew a 2.2T. I have purchased a set of new Mahle pistons ansd cylinders for it and the seller gave me right cylinders for a 2.2T ( 503 WR 06) and 2.2E piston (503 04 00) instead of original pistons (503 45 90) The heads and camshfts are stock. I told him and he replied to me that it is possible to put them without problem. So can you help me to know if it is really possible or to proceed on an exchange? Regards from Le Mans Manu |

The 84 mm 2.2E piston is interchangeable with the 2.2T. The E pistons will allow for a higher lift cam because of deeper valve reliefs in the piston top and have higher compression. In my opinion you are better off with the E pistons

The E pistons are designed to use the biral cylinders, which provide better heat conduction than the cast iron T cylinders. That said, I've been told that the T cylinders are good for up to 200 HP and can be matched to E or S pistons as long as the HP is kept below the 200 HP limit.
To get the most out of the E pistons, they should be matched to a set of E cams. The 2.2T heads should be fine as they have the same port and valve sizes as the E heads. With proper carb tuning, this should run like a 2.2E motor.
