TimeSerts are better than Helicoils but I believe there are better inserts for this application i.e Case Savers. A TimeSert will works by expanding into the metal and there isn't much metal between the insert and the cylinder spigot. This a job best done by a machine shop/milling machine. I worked on a 2.7 once that had been TimeSerted by hand at some point - the studs went every which way. I think the term for this sort of case is "porcupine".

We only use case savers in our mag cases, they are 14x2 and if you set it up to favor away from the spigot just a tad you can still leave a good amount of cylinder surface. PP sells the timecerts, give them a call and have them size one for you. but try to stay with at least a 2mm pitch for good bite into the mag case.
