Weber overflow

I've just re-built a pair of weber 40 IDT's and before mounting on the engine I decided to check for leaks on the bench. If I leave the pump running, even for a short time, I get
fuel coming out of the pipes that rise in between the velocity stacks on one set of IDT's.
Can I assume that the fuel pressure is too high? ( I have a facet pump and external
regulator/filter). Is there anyway I can check the fuel pressure without have a fuel pressure gauge?

Fuel pressure is too high or your floats are adjusted improperly.

You'll need a pressure gauge and a float level gauge to do it right.

or a float could be installed upside down....(don't ask)

Def. check float level. I would also suggest you use that facet pump as a paper weight, they are the crappiest pumps I've ever seen...we remove and discard them regularly.

Thanks guys. I did some thinking, some more measuring and the light came on.
I'd measured the needle valve distance with it open and not closed - der!
So, basically, the valve wasn't closing.
