Help with Decoding Mahle Cylinders
I've got a set of Mahle 95 mm cylinders that I'm trying to de-code because I want to begin looking for 9.3:1 CIS Mahle pistons to go with them to put together a complete set for an as-yet-undetermined future stock rebuild of a late-model SC 3.0 engine.
Anyway, the cylinders are marked 95ZN1W2. On the opposite side of the cylinder, it says, "Mahle" and then there's letter "K" followed by a single raised dot. On the top side of the cylinder (as if the cylinder was mounted to the case) there's a number "1." The number "1" is also stamped on the top of the cylinder (which mounts to the head). The "1" references the diameter group, right? What does the "K" followed by the raised dot mean? The 911 SC spec book describes four cylinder diameter groups (0 through 3). I don't see a reference to cylinder height. Thoughts? Thanks! Brian

You are correct on the diameter group.
The cylinders will also have a height group number (either a 5 or 6) marked inside a triangle at the base of the cylinder. Generally, a set will all have the same ht group or at least 3 of each ht group.

The cylinders are in-spec for diameter group 1 based on my bore gauge measurements. Brian

I should add that when I was searching here for information on Mahle cylinder identification and markings, I did come across a photo of a Mahle Nikasil cylinder that had a letter "L" followed by one or two raised dots (I don't recall which exactly). Don't ask me to find that thread again, because you get pages and pages of results.
Do the letters "K" and "L" -- and the raised dots -- mean anything? Or was it Mahle company practice to channel "Sesame Street" by offering 95 mm cylinders sponsored by the letters "K" and "L"? Brian

Mystery solved, and I'm an idiot. After cleaning the cylinders, I found a triangle with a "6" inside very faintly stamped on each one next to the "1" diameter group designation.
