ZDD Plus instead of EOS
Does anyone have any experience with ZDD Plus from Kirban Performance Products. It has twice the amount of ZDDP as a 16 oz bottle of EOS. Costs about $26 to treat 10 liters. Info at www.kirbanperformance.com. (I am not affiliated with them at all.)

If you need EOS or Zddplus, you're using the wrong oil :-)

What Charles and I are saying is to use the right oil to begin with,...
![]() ![]() IMHO, ZDDP additives are justified for initial engine start when new and during the first 3-4 critical hours of running-in. Beyond that, simply adding additional ZDDP without a corresponding correction/change in the detergent package is asking for trouble and NOT advisable. There are really good reasons for how the chemistry gets balanced in those oil formularies. ![]()

The only way to be sure of what you are doing would be to know the concentration of the additive, the exact level in the oil you are starting with, and a target amount based off the amount of detegency in the oil. Then only after running this modified oil back to back with the unmodified oil with used oil analysis could you determine whether or not the additive is improving things. This is something not even the manufacturer of this oil additive have done (or at least when they started selling it - because I asked). They are just under the assumption that more is better.

Oil analysis of base oil, and of two oil changes after about 6000kM each. Used additional ZDDP. Engine has 15,000kM since rebuild.
