ok, ok, I know this isn't exactly 3.0L rebuild stuff, but I took a break on the rebuild to do some suspension work to the 73.5 911.

I striped off the whole front end in the last few nites. First was the rebuild of the steering rack, all new bearings, syn wheel bearing grease, ect. It was pretty dry, especially the bearing above the coupler, practically frozen. I am glad I tore into that as it turned out to be pretty easy.

I also changed out the tie rods to turbos and added the new tie rod ends that are part of the bump steer kit for the raised spindles. Anyone want to but some brand new turbo tie rod ends? LOL, I didn't realize the bump steer kit had the ends already. I also cleaned up the a-arms and poly grooved bushings with zerk fittings. This was a cool option back before Chuck's polybronze bushings came out. Plus the PO already did them and it appears to be wearing well. Then I cleaned up the hubs (you gotta love soda blasting) and I have all new bearings and seals ready to go.

I installed the front sealed monoballs and have the ball joints still to put on the bottom of the coil overs. I installed the new 23mm master cylinder for the brake upgrade to the 930's. So now I can start putting it back together. The next step is the new aluminum cross member. Then the Tarrett thru body sway and the ST 9" fenders, then everything still left on the floor. Ha. Check out the pics for a little engine rebuilding brake like I did.

The one thing that I was thinking about is those darn steering coupler bolts and the flat plates that you bend up to lock the nut in place. I guess they are one time use stuff because the tabs broke off as soon as I flattened then to remove the bolts. Do you think some red locktite would be just as good?

Blue or green will be fine...you dont need to go for the red. All you are trying to achieve here is that the bolt does not back out. I've used the blue on these before with no issues.

BTW...nice collection of parts there.
