Has anyone used these guys?

http://www.motormeister.com/suz/911_engines/911_engines_5.htm

About 3000 for a rebuilt engine, seems cheap,

You get what you pay for. There are a lot of negative threads. Do a search and see for yourself.

Commonly known or referred to as Motor Scheister. PP search and a Google search will tell the story

ROFLMAO!!!!

Yes! It is cheap and like RarlyL8 says, "you get what you pay for."

Let's see, how can you possibly know any engine rebuild cost until you are in there doing the tear down.

Do yourself a big favor and purchase Wayne's book here on this site, now.

You and your family will thank your lucky stars you did.

You should let an ape forcibly rape you before letting MM do the same thing to you. The ape would be gentler and might even return your calls, which MM will not (after they take your $$$).

You should ask this poor Pelican: My engine blew! I think!

Seriously, MM is just a scam. They take your money and give you a grenade to blow up in your face.

There are a number of great shops to go here in NC. From your location, start with Chuck Miller, MillerSport in Hillsborough. http://www.millersportauto.com/

You also have Jim Burton, Eurowerks, Charlotte; Dave Brown at SpeedWerks, High Point; and Terry Sossamon, The 9-11 Shop, Charlotte, just to name a few.

But in any case do not even consider MM.

It occurs to me that on a regular basis we have an inquiry about these *ss*oles.
So, I guess each time someone new enters the Porsche community, they are shocked by the prices of rebuilds..etc..and find the $$ of these guys to be attractive.
The old saying.."there's one born every minute" comes to mind.
I know we get frustrated in warning ppl about them, but I think it's our duty to at least inform the newbies of the pitfalls of the sport ( and this HAS to be the biggest hole anyone will ever find)!!
Remember...never rush anyone that wants to die...or spend money.

Before I found this site I though MM was a good deal. I even spoke with Roy (?) over the phone about doing some work for me. Roy? sounded like a very good salesman. I'm glad I did not go through with anything

Hell, I would let Sarah Palin rebuild the engine before I would let MM touch it!!!!! Why dont you try Supertec, JB Racing, Performance Developments, Ollie's, or a host of other shops....

The guys a salesmen in the same vain as the pre-FDA snake oil vendors... or at least that's what I've gathered.

Personally, I'd rather have someone "local" so I could go back to them if problems arise - and consult on the necessary break-in process.

Based on Wayne's book, a good rebuild should cost you around ~$4500 if you have Nickasil P&Cs, do the work yourself, and only replace the "wear" items. If you need to buy P&Cs (hit or miss depending on year), tack on around another $1500. If you pay someone to do it, add 40 hours of shop-rate labor.

Even removing all the specialty tools from the list, I don't see how its possible to rebuild for $3000, the machine shop estimate alone is almost that much.

Just my .02c. Its your car and your money.

When I started on my 2.7 MM listed a complete standard rebuild for $1980.00 IIRC. I decided to rebuild it myself. My case did not need to be line bored. The rest of the machine work (nothing for racing, just a reliable street engine) cost just about 1900.00 at Ollies. That price did not include parts, just the usual case/case savers/crank/valve job, etc. I find it hard to believe that anyone that does a little research could believe that MM could rebuild an engine for that price. I think I have about 5500.00 in a stock rebuild. Other than machine work the rest of the work was done by me. I think that for a 2.7 complete rebuild by a reputable shop would be 10k-15k. I would run from MM.
