nose bearing replacement
when do you replace it?
routinely? are there wear limits? getting to the point of assembling my case and buying the stuff i need. thanks,

There are limits, I don't have them right in front of me but it should be checked and I would keep it well within spec, an out of spec nose bearing will cause the loss of oil pressure to the mains and rods.

when you have the engine apart for a rebuild, that's when you replace it, along with the rest of the bearings.

You can check the nose bearing for wear but I would replace it along with all of the other bearings in the case since you have it cracked open why not refresh everything to the same "new" state? The nose bearing is ~ $100 which I would consider cheap insurance versus having to open the motor again to replace a leaking or worn out one later.
