start up mystery help

its for a 2.0T engine ,original 914-6, used waynes book as a guide

everything is new, from top to bottom , took me a while to get it started ( dizzy figuring out session)

its hard to be in the car to turn the key and in the engine bay(especially that one)

here is where the mystery is , it runs , run rough but runs , seems to be running on all 6 but misses , wont run unless i have the hand throttle half up and then its running at about 2500RPM

has webber carbs, i can definitely see fuel being atomised on all 6 TB , the issue is :cylinder 1,,2,3 , when i touch the exhaust its F,,ing hot , on cylinder 4,5,6 , i can keep my hand on it ,,what the ....

what did i do wrong , the points are good , properly gapped, new spark plug, new wire, new rotor and cap,

i just hope its something stupid, i would hate to have to pull it out

Flip the distributor 180 degrees and see if the cold side comes alive. Sounds like you went to lunch when you timed the cams

hi there , i tought thats what it was ,i had eliminated a lot of other things, like spark and fuel, just wishing i made a stupid mistake , it was a stupid mistake just bigger

i however used waynes book as is ,

not sure how to rotate 180 degree, can i just move the plug wire,

i will re-read the book about the cam timing , but any advise will be greatly apreciated

looks like pulling it out is the only option

ok took me a bit less than an hour to take the engine out, take the cover off and i pulled a .....doh.. the 345 cam is off by 180 degree both on the power stroke at the same time, i had also talked to a friend of mine who is an engine specialist and had never heard of that one , at least nothing is broken ,

dont ask how i did it , but it wont happen again
