Con Rod for 3.0 Turbo
I recently had machine done 3.0 turbo motor. They balanced the rods and crank, on the rods where the cap & rod mate they ground the square edge off where they meet,it was done on only4 rods.. Is this bad or am I being over concerned?

I ve had the rods resized before but that is just to compensate for running. The removal of metal is to balance..but on a mating surface..?

Sounds OK to me. They would have checked the weights of the rods and just removed material from the heavier ones to match the weight of the lightest. I don't think they removed the material from the mating surface, just the exterior. Pics would help.

Removing material from this location is common and is the correct place to remove the necessary material for balancing.
You can of course remove too much material and at that point compromise the integrity of the rods. These rods are not in that category. Run them with confidence.
