Exhaust Studs-Block Use Loctite/Antiseize ?

I have all my exhaust studs out.
Should I use any thing on the threads on the studs going into the block.
I will be using anti-seize on the threads that stick out of the block.

going into the block..youre changing the dilivars out
The studs will seat to the bottom, I usually clean the hole and put them in dry and tight. I could see using blue loctite, not red.
I like to grease the threads before I install the heads so I can get a good torque moment.

Hmmm, I don't think your exhaust studs stick out of the block, most stick out of the heads. Get some of the good high temp 1800-2000 degree copper anti-seize compound. Should be available at most of your FLAPS.

I brain fart often.... Wasn't picking at you, just said it to clarify since I understood you and the first reply mentioned dilavars...
I'm probably two months from the long block stage, still waiting on and ordering parts.
Enjoy!

For the exhaust studs ... just use anti-seize on the exhaust nuts (or thread of the stud).

I was told NOT to use anti-seize on the threads going into the heads b/c you don't want the studs to come out while trying to remove the exhaust nuts in the future. When I tore my engine down half of the studs came out with the nuts.

I also used loctite on the thread going into the heads. Not sure if this is needed though.
