JMHO, but the majority of MSD failures that I've seen were due to installation errors. Its easy to condemn various components but do not discount "Human Factors" as thats truly the biggest variable,....:) :) The key is attention to detail.

I've runs MSD's on our race cars since 1978 and never experienced a problem.

Hook an MSD 6 AL up to an, unrecommended by MSD for the 6AL, MSD Pro Power coil and you will see the 6Al fail after about an hour of duty, don't ask me how I know this...but I suspect some failures stem from these mistakes.

Well just to update this, I'm going XDi via Don at EBS. ( Just to say so far, both Don at EBS and Richard at Clewett have been top blokes ).
964 Cams and 98mm Mahle high comp P+C's, twin plug heads and 964 bottom covers.
Hope it all works!!

If you were using carbs or ITB's I was going to suggest a larger cam to take advantage of them. But your build looks good!

Cheers

Go Go Bronco, dont forget you have a master engine builder on your side as well ;)

If you're twin plugging, you may as well go 100mm Nickies for a 3.5?

Not in within budget.
But if you have some you want to donate some ... lol

I do have that set of 98mm Mahle RSR fitment pistons and cylinders in good shape ( I think 8 P's and 9 C's )
if any one out there wants to do a deal I would be interested.

Can I use Megasquirt II to control the advance if I choose option 2 set-up? I want to use 2 x MSD 6AL boxes
