optimoly anti seize. Where do I purchase?
I am assembling a 3.0L (930/02 type) motor. I have the camshafts that use a hex bolt and washer to secure the drive gear to the camshaft. I'm told to use Optimoly anti-seize on the bolt threads and also on the cylinder head nuts. Where do I buy the stuff? Is there and alternative product available?
thank you, Ed |

Ed,
First of all WELCOME to the forum. You will find a lot of good information and helpful people here, including some professional engine builders. Optimoly HT is made by Castrol and is distributed in Europe mostly. I haven't been able to find it in the USA. I think there is a Porsche part number but it's like $40 for a six gram tube. Fortunately, the datasheets for Optimoly HT are available, and we can see that it's basically a copper-based high temperature ("HT") antiseize paste. As such, similar products by Permatex or Lubro Moly are good substitutes. Here is the datasheet: http://safetydatasheets.bp.com/ussds/amersdsf.nsf/0/30d6d20a9858fe3d8025707600504b25/$FILE/00019433000220003.pdf In assembling my own engine I used Lubro Moly LM508, available from our host here for about eight bucks a tube. Works well on wheel hubs and exhaust system bits also. Pelican Parts - Product Information: 2012-M19 Good luck!
