Machine Shop recommendations

Can anyone recommend a machine shop to inspect and repair (if needed) my 930 engine components?

Any good shops in Michigan?

Thanks

+1 with Ollies. I live in Chicago, I shipped my entire engine to them. They did phenomenal work and are very trust worthy.

To add to my previous post:
The nice thing about a 911 engine is that everything can be shipped FedEx or UPS. As long as you disassemble it completely yourself. I shipped the case (both halves) in one box and split everything else up into several others. They came recommended by a former Al Holbert crew member (he worked in the race shop putting together engines and cars) so they have been around and have a LONG history of quality work. I am currently looking for another case to build a spare long block out of. It will be sent to them for sure.

Bill

JB Racing did all of my machine work...except for the crank, and that was handled by CCR in California. Nice thing about JB Racing is that one shop did all the work, and they make their own cylinders, custom ordered pistons, rods, etc. So, if something goes wrong, you dont have 10 different shops pointing fingers at another shop for a part failure!... Plus, they were a great bunch of guys!

Thanks

I'm getting ready to tear down a 3.6 and will be sending my parts to Steve Weiner to perform his magic for me. But if you want someone reasonably local, a lot of the Chicago folks rely on Wally Werner at Werner Machine in Mokena, IL (Chicago south suburbs) Werner Machine LTD. - Quality Cylinder Heads. I know it's not Detroit but still close enough to drive your parts or complete engine over to him.

cgarr is in Kentwood, which I think is near Grand Rapids. I know he can do your heads, you would need to discuss with him everything else. Do a search on cgarr.

Bob @ Anchor Atlantic in NJ. Heads only, thats all he does. Really nice guy. Sent candy back with the heads & stamped my name on each one, pretty Cool.
Oh yea, the heads are beautiful too.

Walt @ Competition Engineering, so far for every thing else. Another terrific guy.

Powder coating, dip tanks, & bead blasting all local.

Leakproof.
