Sealing Ring Question

Newly rebuilt 3.2 motor on my 87 Carrera and I have a minor oil leak, I believe at the hollow bolt on the passenger side where the tensioner oil line goes into the valve cover area. My question is whether the sealing rings sold are softer aluminum and could have been mixed up with other aluminum washers in my "top end" gasket set. The washers/rings I took off were copper. There were no copper sealing rings that size so I used aluminum washers/rings that were in the set. I'll try tightening the bolt a little or should I get a new set of washers ?

Aluminum should work just fine.

Hollow Bolt Torque

I gave that bolt a little "push" on the wrench, I'm kind careful as there is no "torque" for these that I know of. Just have to do some more driving to see if its better. I snapped one of the little ones during rebuild when I stupidly attempted to torque it like it was an 8mm bolt. Luckily the snapped off thread backed right out.
These are $10 bolts plus shipping though.

Yep aluminum is fine. Tightening spec on these is "snug." Meaning tighten them until you feel the squish of the seal ring starting to occur, then go another 1/8th or 1/4 turn and you should be fine.
