extra part - whats this for?

So there is an extra seal in my kit. Looks like the seal that goes behind the cam covers but I am positive I installed two. Did I miss somthing?

Thanks,

Chris

The only other O ring that looks like that is the #8 nose bearing O ring. If I were a nicer guy I'd dig one out and measure it, but I'm not.

I definitly have the#8 bearing gasket on there and this is bigger. Thank god it is not somthing that should be in the case. I think my gasket set came with an extra cam cover gasket.

Could be complete tomorrow

The seal kit covers a lot of engines, for some the is quite a few seals left over...
If your confident that you haven't forgotten something, trust your gut.

Thats great news. Its almost ogether, the end is in sight. Would not be happy if I had to take it down to the case again. Its been a longer then expected project with a few set backs along the way.

I dropped one of the cylinders and it cracked $500 mistake
One of the pistons ring lands was broken $1000 for new ones
Machine shop installed the case savers 2 mm shallow so spent $200 on 996 head bolts which are slightly longer

Dont see any more set backs on the horizon and the hard parts are done :-)

Goes under the throttle body if its the same as the seal behind the cam gear.

This looks like a camshaft plate o-ring. I also got an extra one in my seal kit.
