DIMENSION OF RSR Rocker Arm SEALS
Dear All,
who can provide the dimensions of the RSR Rocker ARM seals. Part. no should be: 911.099.103.52 Maybe you still have a master piece and you can measure it for the board. Please provide the dim. in Metric to this board. Thank you. ![]() |

thickness = 0.0556 - 0.0562"
OD = 0.7097" ID= 11.96mm ID using digital calipers, OD and thickness using micometer since the material is flexible, the OD and ID probably not better than 0.002-3" |

was it a new seal or used and was it OEM or Pelican item? due to the fact that porsche uses only metric. Here my assumptions Thickness: 1,4mm Inner Diameter : 12.00mm Outer Diameter: 18.00mm Thank you that helps. Can a third confirm this data? BR Bob 0.0556" = 1.41224mm 0.0562" = 1,427mm OD 18.02638mm ID= 11,96mm |

The measurement was from a new seal I got from EBS.
I don't know how many places are molding these, there seems to only be anecdotal info. out there. Considering the world wide demand is not large I can't imagine too many companies would be investing in the tooling/etc. I'll bet the mold is not being run by Porsche if it ever was, likely outsourced. Maybe someone knows the details, e.g. has the material been tested in some way to confirm that material is all the same or different possibly indicating more than one company is making the seals. If it was me and I was trying to reverse engineer the seal, which it appears you are trying to do, I would not assume the target after mfgr. dimensions fall on "even" numbers. That's my 2 cents. |

These are likely die cut from sheet stock so tooling is minimal to off the shelf. The material is what would be important, oil resistant and good temperature rating.
Stay tuned, PFM |

I don't think so, there appears to be a nicely formed radius around the OD. I think this is needed get these to slip past the sharp edges on the cam tower holes and to form a distinct line contact of sorts, with a flat edge I think you would have leaks.

Robert, the diameter of the rocker shaft is 17,992-18,000mm
I think the RSR seals must be a larger diameter than the shaft to seal correctly. Therefore I think the measurement of 0.7097 inches or 18,02638mm makes sense, the extra material is intended to achieve the seal. If it were 18,000mm it wouldn't stick up past the OD of the shaft.

Would the seal stick up past the OD of the shaft if the ID was slightly larger than the OD of the groove they fit into?
I have some spare shafts and seals here and can check the measurements as well, when I get the chance! ![]() Cheers

Thanks All of the board that has responded, I rebuilt the engine two years ago and did not use the seal and haven't had any major leaks. As they say with air cooled 911's if doesn't leak a little bit , it's out of oil.
