Not Porsche, but still a very cool first engine start
I love Porsche and Porsche engines, but I thought the first start of a '76 carbureted Ferrari 308gtb engine (mine, and yes that's me!) to be super cool and worthy too. My 911 engine rebuild did not start nearly as easily, but that is a different beast.
Anyhoo. Details. 10.5:1 compression. stock early US/Euro cams which are 235 dur @ .050 and .350 lift set to 105 lobe centers. Peak power should be around 260bhp at 7500rpm with 215ish torque. 2926cc engine. I will add the Ferrari racing 'P6' cam grind later once broken in. Those are 266 dur @ .050 with .375 lift similar to a DC60 with less lift of course. Max lift with these engines is pretty limited. YouTube - Ferrari 308GTB 1976 engine rebuild first start

Very cool. And very smooth considering all those carbs - congrats!
BTW - is that a dry sump? Looks like a 911 oil tank in the fender well.

Wet sump. You are seeing one of the fuel tanks. Dry sump engines were around on the early GTBs for Euro cars. A must for a track car but no biggie for street cars. Same power for these.

makes me want to get a ferrari. I think you can get a testerosa for 50-60k right now. would be fun. I love listening to those 180 degree cranks on the race track at ALMS races.

180 fire V8s sound great, but so do the Porsche 911 engines with ITB injection/high comp/hot cams/dual spark ign. What a sound
