metric dial indicator question

Hello,

I have a metric dial indicator for cam timing. Is one revolution on the indicator 1mm? Or is one notch (0,01mm) therefore 1 on the dial is 1mm....I know silly question. Before I start my engine I want to make sure i did it right? Otherwise have to drop it out and do it over

1 revolution is 1mm. 1/1000 meter
There is 100 marks around the circle so each is 1/100mm
So, if you want 1.26 for a 3.6 engine cam you pre load 5 or 6 mm and set the 0 to the point and go 1 full rotation and then .26 or 1/4th of the circle

Thank you bruce! My eyes are not good and i thought it said 0.01. I adjusted them to .15mm instead of 1.55mm. I have the engine in the car and was going through my checklist again and decided to look at the dial. I might be able to time them while it is in the car??? Or drop partial way. Oh well...glad I cought it. Sucks the engine is in the car.....

What does it say on the indicator? I have some where one tick is 0.1mm, some where one tick is 0.01mm. It says right on the face.

Hello,

It says one tick is 0,01mm... it has a comma instead of a decimal point. I bought it from out host. I think it is one revolution is 1mm? Sorry pics are fuzzy....

I'm an official bone head! I was reading the Gage as .01 in the tenths! Not hundredths. Jeez glad I caught it! Thanks for all the help. Wow sometimes..........

The comma is the German way of showing a decimal point. That is a Kaefer gauge, not a bad one, one tick is one-hundredth of a millimeter.
