RSR Cylinder Heads
I have recently been told, but have not seen, that RSR heads were modified with an 'oil gallery' to lubricate the exhaust valve guide but I must say I find it difficult to believe,
I am told that there is a 'pocket' machined as marked in red machined and then a fine drilling is made into and through the guide. If this is true there must also be mods to the cam cariers? ![]() Anyone seen anything like this? |

Hi Chris,
That mod was done on the 935's and really for one part of one track(mulsanne straight). For prolonged boost. Normally aspirated engines did not have this done. My guess is that a privateer modded a set(s) with the thinking that they would gain some advantage.

As the engine we are building is normally aspirated and is for an Historic Endurance Rally I guess it isn't wortht he cost/risk.
Thanks for the help. |

I always found this mod an interesting anecdote in the racing history of these motors.
Seems like i also remember seeing somewhere some trick 935 heads that had small oil lines tapped into them as well to try to improve cooling... u wouldnt happen to have a pix of these also wouldja Max?

Sorry, no photos. 935s used both center-lubed cams and the spray bars.
