Dizzy Rebuild

Can someone explain what recurving a distributor means and does it have to be done on a CIS system to Carbs and is it something I can do myself?

Thanks.

In a nutshell, recurving a distributor means modifying the advance weights & springs to allow more ignition advance at a lower RPM for better throttle response and engine acceleration. The limitations are mainly octane and compression ratio.

You need a distributor machine to precisely measure advance at all RPM to achieve the desired result. Further, you need a selection of springs and weights to fine-tune the unit to get the values you want.

Does this help??

Re-curving a distributor means changing the advance curve and limit, to maximize performance based upon your engine configuration, and driving preference.

What distributor do you have?
Engine?
Mods?
Track, street, combo?
Pictures?

I am attempting to change a 2.7 CIS into a 2.7 carburetor. The build is going to be JE Pistons 9.5 CR, with E cams and 40 webers. The car will be street driven and i don't believe there is any special mods.

Thanks a bunch to the both of ya

I would make sure your distributor doesn't have worn bushings or excessive end play when you recurve it. Most high-mileage ones need to be rebuilt.

.....the sound, I believe is similiar to, cha ching. Probably around 500 + for rebuild and recurve. You probably will not find anyone who is going to just recurve it, in a high milage condition.
