The right and left cam came in at 1.55 out of 1.7 so they are locked down and ready to go. The valves are adjusted, exhaust valve covers are on the intake side, I ran out of gaskets...and the top breather gasket, too.
I was going to get the exhaust on but I have to go shopping for my sons JROTC summer camp..well later. Bruce ![]() ![]() |

Its been 3 or 4 hot! days in central Carolina. Taped some wires and installed the beautifully cleaned shroud, thanks Gary.
Worked on cleaning the CIS for tomorrow install, there seems like there is a big difference between clean and greasless.. Bruce ![]() ![]() |

I got the CIS cleaned and looking good. Even used the proper 12 mm nuts to hold everything to the head.

Bruce,
Looking good. I was glad to hear that the bottom end was in such good shape and that I was right about the broken spring on #1. To answer a question mileage, your answer of 100K is as good a guess as any. I am at least the forth owner, and I discovered that my speedo was out of a 82SC - so the mileage is anyone's guess. As nice as it's looking I'm having terrible thoughts of buying that back from you when you get done! (only terrible because the rebuilt engine i have now only has about 3000 on it and it's kind of hard to justify having a spare engine and transmission laying around!) Keep the pics coming - enjoying it. Mike

No, if you look at the chain covers a few pictures back, they are pressure fed.

What is this Yamabond? I searched, and found several products that Yamaha offers with this name.

Yamabond 4 Motorsports
Yamabond 4 Motorsports is a silicone-based liquid gasket that fills gaps on a flange surface and prevents leaks. When cured, this product forms a rubber-like body that resists heat and seals joints subjected to high temperature. Gear- and engine-oil resistant, Yamabond 4 Motorsports sets in 60 minutes. Not for use on copper or copper-based alloys. |

I want to thank everyone for the comments and things to think about while it was being done. Enjoyed the knowledge about the rod numbers and the sealants questions.
At this time the engine is complete with the exceptions of the muffler, cat, spark plug wires, heater blower and tubes, most of which doesnt go on until the engine is in and started. Im moving over to the For Sale section with this engine. 1978 euro 3.0 complete to install $8000 with CD box Bruce ![]() |

So, just to recap, the notches should be exhaust side for the 1-2-3 bank and
intake side for 4-5-6? andy |

If you look at the rod pictures I took, there is no correlation between the numbers stamped and the notches for the bearings. the notches go to the Lea side of the stroke.
