2.4 Rebuild - I need advise!

I have a '72 2.4 motor that needs a rebuild. My first thoughts were take it to an "E" spec but the cost of doing this seems to be increasing very quickly. Consequently I am looking at just doing a stock "T" rebuild. My question is what can be done to these motor's in the "T" platform that can make it a little more faster with a minimal investment. All suggestions are appreciated. I also posted this on the technical forum after I realized there was a rebuild forum. What should be the cost and what should be done? I am new to this so please excuse the newbie questions.

Dean

Assuming your T motor is using carbs (not MFI), a simple and somewhat inexpensive upgrade would be to change to E spec cams and pistons along with a set of 2.2T heads.

You can keep you T cylinders, recurve your distributor and you will have a 2.4E spec motor.

PM me if you would like more details.

Hi my name is Gary Hunter and I live in Charlottesville,Va.. I have a 72 911T that I have done a leak down and compression on with bad results on 3 of 6 cylinders. I was was looking for any info on other rebuilds when I came across your reply. I am interested in perhaps doing the re-build myself (maybe) and wanted to get your opinion on what to do. I want to keep the MFI but maybe upgrade to a higher spec. I do not race but want to do some DE and auto X. What I enjoy most is just going for drives in the evenings (58 yrs. old Ha!). I am very computer shy and didn't want to get in a full blown discussion on the board. I would appreciate any insight you might offer. If you are too busy I understand that too. I know the cost involved. Thanks, Gary

Lots of time for the small cubes it easier to buy a replacement that is already done than it is to rebuild with all the cost associated with it.
