Hi all,
I purchased a 1969T about a year ago from an impound yard. The engine ran rough and had an oil leak near the oil cooler but otherwise looked clean with some new parts and up grades like turbo valve covers and webers. I have no history on the engine so my plan was to tear it down fix oil leak do top end reseal and id what I have. Fast forward I have the engine completely apart and what I see so far is encouraging the pistons look like s pistons markings are 84P8 cylinders are marked 84ZD3 I believe are biral mahle. Can someone help to id the cranks and rods? The cranks numbers that I can read are as follows D18761 and the rod numbers are 90110310100 it's probably a stretch but I'm hoping the crank is the larger 2.4 2.7 counterweighcounterweighted and not the T crank. The cams are marked 901 106 133 and based on Wayne's book they are T but are probably regrounds I hope. Heads look ported and measure 38mm the intake are 42mm and exhaust are 38mm which is stock right?. Any help would be greatly appreciated especially with the crank as this determines what siez engine I have 2.2 or 2.4 as borne pistons are 84mm. Thanks ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

84P84 IS 2.2S pistons
The crank is non counterbalanced T crank So the rods have to be 2.0/2.2 only, The 2.4 crank and rods have smaller rod journals You need to check the valve size on the heads or at least the date on them Those pistons and a 2.4 crank will really run Bruce |

Porsche 911T engine id.
Hi Bruce,
Thanks for your input. The intake valves measure 42mm and the exhaust measure 38mm the heads id numbers are 901.104.306.2r dated 68. Another question if my cams are regrounds what's the best way to figure out what I have?. Thanks |

Lots of times there are stampings on the end of the cam with the grinder name and what the cut of the cam is. you might have to call and ask the settings.
You might look for a better set of heads because your heads have been modified to fit the sealing rings of the cylinders. Bruce |
