Crankcase casting

Starting to clean the half that goes in the stand and found in the oil residue a piece that appear to came from these area.

Can I clean with a grinder and put some JB Weld or leave it as is?

Here is another shot from the thermostat area showing some pitting of the aluminum.

What do you think? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Francisco

The first pic is steel pressed in to the aluminum, all cases are like that.
The oil passage doesnt have to be finished, its just a drill. Aluminum is more resilient than magnesium, I would leave it be. You have to ask yourself, what would be the down side of building this?
