Assembling ConRods on Crank
Quick question. How 'freely' should I expect the conrods to rotate under their own weight once torqued down onto the crank? I completed the assembly over the weekend and as I rotate the crank each rod falls in a very smooth motion under its own weight, without any one moving more quickly or slower than another. The motion though is a reasonably slow one. Wasn't sure if I should have expected these things to spin around the crank fast or slow.
I know its a tough question to answer without seeing the real deal but am curious to see what you all may have to offer. Thanks,

rods
What did you use for assembly lube, and how much clear., grease will act much tighter than say 30 wt.

I used Lubro Moly 3010 (blue tube) - came with the super rebuild kit I purchased from our host.. Applied 'generously' as referenced in Wayne's textbook

Sounds appropriate to me. I recently installed rods onto a crankshaft (everything freshly machined) and all the rods fall in a fairly slow, smooth damped motion (from the assembly lube).

Sounds good... the assembly lube was definitely thicker than I would have expected.
