Changing cams

I have a 2.4T CIS motor that I changed to carbs. Can I simply swap out the CIS cams for E or S cams keeping the CIS pistons?

Kev

Nossir,..those other cams have much more valve lift and the intake valves will strike the CIS piston domes.

You need to install E or S pistons to accomodate a cam change like that.

Hi Kev,

About the best you can do is a 20/21 or equivalent from DR racing cams.

You can pocket the CIS pistons to allow for the installation of more aggressive cams. This lowers the compression slightly but the increase in performance far exceeds the performance loss from the compression reduction.
