Alt Sources: Thermo Valve and Temp Switch
Managed to break my Thermo Valve during removal (plastic portion). Figured I'd replace both it and the Temp Switch on my breather cover. Surprised to see how expensive those little buggers were. Even more surprised to find out that they are back ordered in Germany without any idea on when they might be available.
Anyone know of an alternative source or compatible part? Thanks,

Regarding the thermo valve - I just went through this on my 930. The thermo valve is only there to keep the mixture leaner during colt start, to allow the catalytic converter to heat up. It barely accomplishes this by blocking the vacuum signal to the distributer's vacuum canister for a brief period of time until the element inside heats up and it opens. It's an 1970's era emissions device, and as such, I would promptly disable it and replumb your vacuum lines directly fom the canister to the throttle body. (This is what I did on my engine) Folks who have removed them or taken them out of the circuit have noticed zero difference in the way their cars start / idle / perform in cold temps. I trimmed the plastic nipple remnants off of mine, filed the top down flat, and applied JB Weld to form a nicer looking plug. I will report on how my engine does without it once my car comes back from the Fat Cat Fabrication.
