Thx for the replies here guys...
Al, do you know if your LM-01 or if I need to get an -02 or some other brand that will allow me to use a screw in o2 sensor OR a hollow type of tube sensor/jobbie that I can stick up an exhaust pipe for those applications where I cannot use an o2 sensor in a bung to sniff the exhaust...?? Thx, Bob

Innovate Motor Sports On-Line Store
Innovate has an exhaust clamp that allows you to thread an O2 sensor into it and attach it to your exhaust pipe. This is what I use when I'm tuning engines. Regards, Al

I use the Innovate O2 "guage kit" sold on PP.
The set up uses the existing o2 bung. Search on my id and you'll find my posts on using it for tuning my Zenith carbs |

I use an AEM wideband O2 on my exhaust and it seems to be quite accurate for tuning my carbs. Definitely happy with the purchase.

Any recommendations for a dual sensor/single gauge system?

I have been looking for such a system also. Wideband is the one you want. AEM and Innovate both have affordable systems. My plan is to buy one of these, put bungs in both pipes and use one sensor at a time. I will use it only for tuning. I will not be leaving the sensor in during a race.

Is it possible to put a wide band installation bung on SSI's? If so where?
Thanks, W

Hi Sherwood... There is a tool for dual sensor = LM-2 "Dual Channel" version, p/n 3807...the unfortunate part is that the basic gage starts at $500...then on top of that is exhaust clamp for tail pipe @ $75 + longer cables for 12v power, you will need qty. 2 o2 sensor cables for the 2 sensors you are using now, rpm clamp cable (cables running @ ~ $25/ea), THEN, buy a second o2 sensor + buy a second bung & maybe a spare or two that need to be welded in, a welder to attach the bungs + something I am probably missing...
All in it will cost, even if you shop it on the web you are looking at $600+...ouch...not including a welder... Thus, I am asking the knowledge pool here how & if a more affordable approach has been done to tune carb & cis engines a/f ratio... Al K. is using an LM-1 & I guess he is tuning 1 carb bank at a time & using the exhaust pipe clamp to monitor air/fuel exhaust gas...maybe Al's way will do the trick as he has been building + designing fuel injection systems and has a very slick new fuel set up now for 911 engines... Bob

Are you asking if they can be put into stainless steel headers? if so yes. They can be MIG or TIG welded in.

Stack AFR Gauge
I had a boss welded into each header and have just installed a neat little Stack AFR gauge. Nice piece of kit, comes with Bosch o2 sensor, boss for exhaust, basically everything you need for plug and play.

I used two LC-1 controllers and an in-dash gage made by Bigmark Design that replaces the clock. I put a toggle switch in the dash where there is a hole for the fog light switch, to go from right to left.

Are you able to perform data logging or just real-time display? If so, concurrently or single system at a time? What's the approx. cost of your setup? Thanks, Sherwood |

I am using an LM-1 and XD-16 gage. So far it seems fine. Though the instructions are not as clear as the Innovate help line claims them to be. Getting it wired to the LM-1 and the lap top to program it all was finicky.
I just wanted an accurate gage period. Innovate seems ot make good stuff.

I use two LC-1's that each have two outputs that allow connection to a computer for programming and data logging (about $200 each). The dash switch allows toggling between the left/right sensors for the analog display. The dash gage was a rebuilt core for about another $200.

Looks like $600 for that capability.

I'm using an AEM Uego wideband. It was around $160 and has been a big help in tuning my carbs.

504...that looks nice...are you mounting that where the clock usually goes...??
What engine set up ~ car is this going on ie a carb or cis engine...?? Are you running with 1 or 2 o2 sensors in the exhaust or other exhaust gas sensing set up...?? Great input here guys...thx all for sharing what they are doing to approach this issue... Bob
