tuning tips 2.4 TE 911 needed
![]() Hi, i am new in this BBS. I am proud owner about 911 2.4 TE year 1973 porge. I am trying to increase some power with new muffler and maybe using Dansk or SSI heat exchangers, Do this combination make any diffrerence between original parts? I know that in T-model RPM limiter is in something like 6800 rpm, how i can change that? Thanks advance. |

Hello and welcome,
New muffler and SSI's won't do anything for performance. You already have heat exchangers and the stock 2 in 1 out is designed for that engine and MFI. The best upgrade I made to my 2.4 was getting rid of the points. A petronics ignition system is the best bang for the buck. Setting points and dwell is a major pain in the as... The rev limiter is built into the rotor inside the ignition cap. You can replace it with a 7300 rpm limit or eliminate it completly. Good luck and enjoy it. Chris 73 911 E |

Can you post a photo of the engine? For those of us who do not know the number decoding secrets, we can tell you right away what type of induction you have. As you may know, the US 911T for 1973 started as MFI, mechanical fuel injection, with low compression to pass emissions regulations. Then, later in the year, the 911T and only the 911T got the CIS that would be introduced across the US model range in 1974. These CIS cars are usually referred to as 1973.5 911T, whereas a 1973 911T would be an MFI car.
Your 911TE means 911T Einspritzung (same word as for the 911E) which means fuel injection, because outside of the US market the 911T used carburetors, which made them 911TV which means 911T Vergasser (carburetor).

That's MFI - Mechanical Fuel Injection.
Fun project getting it running after 10 year of storage. Drain / replace all the gas (including in the fuel lines and filter (big silver thing on the left in the engine compartment)). Change the plugs - get some oil in spark plug holes and turn her over by hand a couple times(hopefully it turns). Hook up battery charger and/ or good batteries See if she will start. thanks for tips
I have bought new oil filter, lots of oil, fuel filter, blugs, fan belt , new brake disks etc. . Also she has got 2 new 44 amp batteries.
Also i am replacing that horrible Britannia steering wheel with original 1973 wheel again and also this 1980īs stereo will be replaced and old fashion Blaupunkt Frankfurt from 1972-1973 will be installed... She is now under painting process and getting a new paint Sepia brown. Its original paint is Sepia brown. All rust( if there is any) is gone. Motor has been repaired 10 years ago but she suddenly stopped for some reason and till that she has been in garage. i quess it was some problems with gas ... Color and condition nowadays here. ![]() This car is 60 thousand miles only driven and been in garage almost all the time:-) I am 4 th owner storing that beauty ![]() |

I would recommend draining out all the fuel in the tank. You may use the fuel pump and a piece of fuel line to pump most of the fuel out of the tank and into a suitable container. Then remove the drain plug to drain the rest of the fuel out. My tank is from a 1973 cis so it will be a little different than yours. You can remove the fuel level sending unit and look inside to see if their is rust. If there is have the tank cleaned out and treat the rust before reinstalling. Take out the filter screen and clean or replace it.
In the 1st Photo of the bottom of the tank the green arrow points to the drain plug. The yellow arrow points to the filter screen. In the second photo of the top of the tank the orange arrow is where the fuel level sendind unit is. ![]() ![]()
