Yes, as long as it is a 2,2 MFI engine they will fit fine.

Just make sure the height groups are the same (that they are a matched set).

There is no need to change the heads. The complete set should be used because there is a deck height that has to be the same to keep the engine sealed. I f you install 2 cyl of a different height theyre either not tight enough or the cyls are too tight leaving the other cyls unsealed.
All 2.2 and 2.4 T cylinders are the same size and cast iron. Bruce |

2.2T pistons are different than 2.4T pistons. They are both 84mm but they can not be mixed and matched.

There is more to that question then just carb vs mfi... All the MFI engines with the exception of the 2.4T used the Biral cylinders. The only MFI engine that used a cast iron cylinder was the 2.4T. So... the 2.2T and the 2.4T both have 84mm cast iron cylinders and they are both the same and interchangeable. However, the 2.2T piston and the 2.4T piston are not the same. One is designed for the 66mm crank in the 2.2 and the other for the 70.4mm crank in the 2.4. I don't have pictures of both but they are clearly different and not interchangeable. If you use the 2.4T pistons with a 2.2 crank you will have a very low compression ratio.

assuming i found some usable ones if they were "higher" could my machinist cut them down so they would have the same height as the originals? if i don't go that route are there reasonably priced alternatives...numbers seem all over the place. thanks, ben |

You should be able to find a good used complete set of 2.2T pistons and cylinders for pretty cheap. Otherwise, you have a lot of options if you want to upgrade your engine. You can go with a set of 2.2E or even 2.4E or 2.4S pistons and cylinders. You can also find JE pistons and aftermarket cylinders for a reasonable price. It really depends on what you're trying to accomplish

Now is a great time to upgrade to Aluminum/Nikasil cylinders. They are lighter and produce more net power due to lower friction. I did not read carefully enough. I thought he was going to buy a whole new set. Not just two cylinders.
