Where's everyone getting their 3.6L bearings?

For the 964 3.6L rebuilds, where are everyone getting their bearings if the glyco bearings suck? I need rod bearings and main bearings.?

Is calico coating a worthy investment on the bearings?

Thanks for any input.

I have 500 miles on Glyco's. The part guy said they were fine for everyday use and not going beyond redline.

I did the rebuild twice within a one month period...(oil leaks due to too much loctite 574 on first attempt and took to long to torque through bolts down and perimeter bolts.

The Glycos had about 2 hours of run time on them and they looked good. I used them in he second build, and 500 miles later they seem fine. Hope it helps.

Good Luck,

Folks were buying them from SmartRacing/ Jerry Woods, but now Smart Racing no longer exists.

You can still contact Jerry Woods, I believe (google search) or talk to a couple of Pro engine builders and ask what they use. I have read, as you have probably, that there have been some quality issues with Glyco mains. Not sure about the Glyco rod bearings, but I would tend to get the same brand as the mains.

Talk to EBS Racing. They sell a lot of bearings and do a lot of build work.

Is this a street only engine or one that will be used for DE events?

I'm also interested to see what people say. Currently in the process of building a 964 engine (stock) mostly for de duty. I've heard that the glyco mains should be ok but to stay away from the glyco rods. Any other cost effective options for the rods that will last?

I have a friend who built both a 3.6l and 2.7l engine and threw a rod bearing on both shortly after rebuilding with glyco. Both were track driven engines. I'm thinking there's truth in what people are saying.

Did he check the bearings for tolerances or just install them? Wondering if there is sometging wrong other than tolerance quality

Knowledgeable engine builders are saying that the Glyco rod bearings are not adequate for track use. Something to do with a new manufacturing source.

I have also heard that Jerry Woods is still making replacement 3.6 rod bearings.
