Intermediate shaft compatibility.

Hi there!
Finally getting all the parts to assemble my very first 2.7 engine.

My 7R case came with intermediate shaft gear#

901 105 235 1R size 0. it is worn.

I can only find

930 105 136 0R size 0.

They look the same with my rudimentary tools measure the same and both fit.

Can I just replace them? Should I worry? Do you need pics?

Thank you, Felipe

What works well is a 964 I-shaft steel gear with the matching crank gear.

You may want to contact a professional engine builder like Steve Weiner or perhaps JB Racing. JB Racing makes a straight cut gear set, and although you may not be interested in a new set, they maybe able to answer your questions. JB Racing - Porsche Engine Components

Getting the gear set right is pretty important, meaning if you don't get it right, it may mean your engine grenades in a short while. That's a lot of money to risk for most of us, not to mention time, plus having to clean out oil lines/coolers/ tank if metals start to flow through your oil system. You may want to pay a small consulting fee to get this right. Just my 2 cents.

I followed AlfonsoR advice and went to the machine shop here in MA
Gears were measured properly and they are the same.
here is a pic from 911 SC with the part number.

I also had another pelican PM me confirming the info.

Early and late aluminum gears are interchangeable as long as they are the same size.

Thank you everybody!!!

Now time to start assembling.
