Gibbs Brand Lubricant

Has anyone (other than myself) fallen for the sales pitch thrown by Gibbs about this product?

I continue to be amazed by the results.

Even when used on mechanical clocks, the stuff seems to work remarkably well.

Yes, the product is very good. It removes all that white corrosion on cast aluminium parts.
We do not have it in Canada, so I ventured to the nearest gun shop in the US and purchased a couple of cans. May have to order a case in the future; but for real stubborn nuts and bolts I soak with PB Blaster for a few days then spray with Gibbs.
I use it on my snowblower auger differential. It makes things look real purty!

Are you referring to Joe Gibbs oils or something else? We have worked with Lake Speed (Joe Gibbs Racing) and Flat 6 Innovations/Aircooled Technology to be able to develop oils specific for our air cooled as well as the newer water cooled models. The new oils coming this month (actually next week) will be DT40 in a 5w40 viscosity for Porsche Boxster, Cayman, and 911 models and DT50 in 15w50 for the Aircooled models, both full synthetic. Both have been track tested and are good for the street with normal drain intervals too. Only drawback is the price, but worth every penny. I apologize if you guys are talking about a different Gibbs product I am unaware of.

I bought some a few years ago after reading about it on the roadster.com site and have found it to be an excellent product. I don't know what the ingredients are (though it smells suspiciously like LPS) but it does seem pretty effective in discouraging magnesium from returning to the sea.

regards,
Phil

I havn't tried it but would like to.
I really like CorrosionX
It's amazing stuff. Neglected aluminum and magnesium powdery corroisn dissapears when it's sprayed on and doesn't come back for a year or longer.
Usually available at marine hardware stores here in Florida.

It works great to restore the finish on magnesium parts.

Bead blast, metal finish, wash and then Gibbs

Here is a pair of early valve covers that I treated last week.

The Gibbs stuff must be good from what I've read.. and I'll mention that the salt water and humid salt air marine environment is around 10 times more corrosive and destructive to aluminum, magnesium, steel, electrical switches and contacts, than anything cars put up with.

Red can CorrosionX is made for marine use and it is the best all around. CorrosionX

Blue can CorrosionX is made for the aviation industry and it's the only stuff that currently meets the U.S. military's tough, new MIL-PRF-81309F Type II performance requirement and is currently approved by all major airframe manufacturers and recommended by the Joint Council on Aging Aircraft (JCAA), whose testing proved it to be more than twice as effective as any other product in its class.
CorrosionX Aviation

CorrosionX for Guns
CorrosionX Heavy Duty

Just a FWIW that there's other aerosol spray or pump bottle anti corrosion lubes out there that are probably quite superior, easier to buy one can at a time locally in a store, and cost less than Gibbs.

We do not have it in Canada

Hey Capt J.D.

I just had a couple of cans shipped to me from a distributor in Abbotsford. The 'wet coast' may be quite a ways & somewhat inconvenient to have something shipped to your neck of the woods. PM me if you're interested & I'll send you the details.

Cheers
JB

Hawkeye's-911T.
Thanks for the offer it was appreciated; however, I live very close to US suppliers and have a US address which I use and then go and pick it up. It just happened that my first can came from a gun shop as no dealers were known to me at the time...
Again, thanks for the offer
