Octane, timing, etc. on hot 2.7

I'm finishing up an install on a single plug, 10.5 to 1, weber carbed 2.7 from a reputable builder. Race gas is in my future, and the car will be 90% track.

Right now timing is 30 degrees BTDC at 6000 rpm.

What process would you follow to further dial in the timing? Or just leave it there?

Todd, You should be able to go as far as 35 to 38BTDC. Hot fuel and a good spark will keep the fire stable. Put some miles on it, move it up to 35 before you rev it tight.

As an addendum to Bruce's comments, I'd recommend keeping 30 degrees until 100% race gas is in the fuel tank.
