oil gallery plugs for mag case issue

Hey guys, having an issue with the oil plugs (circled in pic) in a 2.7 mag case.

I have a new 7.5mm plug for the intermediate shaft and the 13mm for the front plug but they both just fall into the hole with no press fit. I tried an 8mm cam plug for the top hole, but it is way too tight.

The large 22mm plugs have a nice interference fit, no issues there.

Any ideas?

I prefer threaded plugs.
Drill if necessary and tap with pipe tap...screw in the plugs...never worry about them pushing out under pressure.

The new Porsche case plugs are ~.003-.004" smaller than what came out of the case, so no fit. One more thing to be aware of and plan around.

Or...how about having a machine shop make you a couple of aluminum plugs (tapered) that fit your application?

When screwing in a plug, you must consider how deep it is going in, lest it block a cross passage. I used the hollow fitting on the fan end to help figure that out, plus measuring. Then screwed the final plug in and marked its orientation. Screwed it back out and ground a relief in its backside. Then screwed back in again to its mark. Seems to work.

At the flywheel end of this large gallery I shortened the outside of the plug for external clearance - I think internal clearance of other passages was not an issue there.

I once used aluminum plugs for this, but they were too soft to get back out (or I secured them too well). So it was back to brass.

Having someone with a lathe machine aluminum plugs of the right interference fit is not a bad option, though.
