964 Cam Tensioners - do they fail?

How common is it for a 964 cam tensioner to fail? Have about 1800 miles on my 964 engine that received a major top end (P & C's) Cams, Heads done... When I went to restart after a first session at DE today - had a rattle that sounded like a chain tensioner.

did not replace the tensioners when the engine was out.

BTW - no missed shift - no over rev - - no smoke - car runs - just sounds like chains dragging on a garbage can

Hi,
Did you find out if it was the tensioners?

I have seen them fail and note, there is a right and a left tensioner for proper installation.
