Need Cam Help for Aircooled 3.8
I am building a 3.8 for an '84 911. I hand grenaded the 3.6 that was in the car...but, I was going to use the intake and cams from that car for this build.. The cams are Shrick 0005-880-02.
This is for a dedicated track car. A friend has some OEM Cams that, he believes came off of a Cup Car. The part number is 24707. I have searched to the best of my ability and have not been able to find out anything about these. I am looking for a flat torque curve but trying to get a little more top end out of the car. If you are familiar with these cams and their benefits/negatives, any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks. Tim |

Tim,
Your choice of intake systems really dictates what cams you can successfully use. For any OEM intake, stick with RS cams. Cup cam LC's are too wide for any single-throttle intake system.

3.8 cams
Hi,
We are going to use Webcams 20/21 - for our current ongoing 3.8 build 1992 964 stock intake - JE 102MM 12.5CR pistons - EBS racing valve springs, etc. The 20/21 are high lift and short duration for better torque numbers What happened to your 3.6 engine?? Regards,

I was passing a guy going into #5 at Putnam Park. He decided to drag race me to the corner, I had to stay in it. I have to feather it going into that corner as I am at the top of third, but I was committed, the limiter didn't catch it and KABOOM.
I think it was a rod failure. Handgrenaded it. It was running spectacularly well too...which is what they say always happens. |
