Top end re build / Valve guides in NY / tri state area

I think my car 86 911 needs a top end rebuild. Its started to burn oil 1qt at 500 miles at 82k, and has a little blue smoke. Can anyone make recommendations for a re builder in the NY area who is reputable but reasonably priced.

Secondly as I understand with the work I have to get done in replacing the valve guides, I should also replace the pistons which will essentially give me a much refreshed engine. Is this correct. I'm not looking to build any thing other than a reliable stock engine.
Thanks

Get Wayne's rebuild book on this site. Pistons and cylinders are often fine but need new rings.
Search Pelican for Verden Tool in Dover, NJ.
Many satisfied customers for head work.

There are many good 911 engine rebuilders in this area. Here are some recommendations in CT

1. Dan Jacobs LLC Oxford, CT
2. Automobile Associates Canton, CT
3. Musante Motorsports South Windsor, CT

Rebuild

I did my 87 at 190 k miles for similar reasons. I don't think you need to necessarily replace pistons. I did my piston rings only and along with the valves, etc. and all is good now. Pistons don't really "wear out" normally. Bottom end was alot of bearings and a case re-seal so hope to be good for another 200k plus !
