buying another engine

I am going to buy another motor from a Pelican member. Does anyone know of a database that can check the engine serial number, and give me some kind of Doc that I can include in my engine change Doc book. I am not worried about the motor being stolen. I want the document incase I ever sell the car. Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well

Thanks
Jim
