Blue Sealant :(
I'm tearing down my engine for a rebuild/refresh. I cracked the case and found someone had been there before and resealed with blue silicone. Why the hell didn't they replace the O ring here?
![]() ![]() Looking at the internals, they didn't appear to do anything while they were in there but slather goop around the edge. That said, the case halves weren't leaking. Had plenty coming from the heads. Found STD bearings and a three rib pump. ![]() I plan on replacing this with a mag 4 rib from Tom Butler (tom1394racing): ![]() Case will be headed to Ollies once I remove the studs. ![]()

It is amazing what some do to an engine. MM did the one I am working on and used form-a-gasket all over the cam housings, which is a pain to clean off. Found pb blaster and a brush works well tho.

quite possibly Hylomar - which explains why the case was not leaking - a smart choice by the prior builder imho - QUOTE=tharbert - I cracked the case and found someone had been there before and resealed with blue silicone. That said, the case halves weren't leaking.
