suggestions for Rear view mirror removal ?

Dammit...wrong subforum, sorry...

I have an incorrect and rather fugly aftermarket mirror on the 69. It's glued to the windshield, and sadly this is one of my best windshields (or I'd fix it with a hammer).

I can't get any floss solidly behind it due to the curvature of the glass, and it rips immediately even if I get lucky. I sprayed some goof off to attack the glue, no dice... pulling on the mirror makes the glass flex with a sense of doom... Heat did very little... Is there any trick to removing glued on mirrors? Or do I wait till it falls out in 16 years ?

Nothing worked so I managed to reuse the stubbornly stuck wrong base with the new mirror... The ball was a tad thicker so I Dremeled it smaller and pressed the mirror on. When the windshield breaks I'll reverse that...
