Could just be getting some oil in thru the intake? check the vent/vac system and make sure you have the restrictor (aka dog dick) at the line to the oil tank and its the correct way.

Something to add to this Dilemma - I have been hearing a sorta "Knocking" sound around the same area where the "leaky" valve resides (cylinder 5). It only exists at certain points in time and not an on going sound. Note: and it is not the valves for sure. I am beginning to think this maybe related? Would a broken valve spring be the culprit? And BTW, I am showing a slow loss of oil and burning through the exhaust.
I am planning to take the passenger side intake off to take a look at the leaky valve in question, and wanted to know if I can do anything that can point to maybe having a loose valve or guide? I am thinking of having a leak-down test done for once and for all. Thanx, Serge Last edited by nene; 04-23-2014 at 08:31 PM.. |

I am reviving this thread....
Over this weekend, my car was driving like a MO-FO, for which it felt like it was going to dump me on the side of the road. The idle was lower than usual, the car was shaking like it was running on one or two pistons.
I decided to look into it and first thing I noticed was that my intake manifold bolts were all loose.. ![]() So experts, would it be wise to take the car over to my Wrench to have them assess the situation, or should I take a stab at performing something that might fix this? Opinions please?? FYI, after buttoning everything up, the car is now running like..a CAR!!! Thanx, Serge ![]() ![]() |

Are you sure that it's oil? Having any cold or hot start issues? 181k miles and original injectors could be getting sticky. Suck it out with a syringe and see how easily the "oil" lights on fire.
![]() If it's oil, then definitely Italian tune-up followed by cold beverage. In that order only!

nickd,
No hot or cold issues, although I do get "the oil smell" upon coming to a dead-stop, which I am associating this leak to, but I could be wrong. Spark-plugs are ok except this one, which has a little bit of oil around the thread. |
