915 Throwout Bearing damage?

Is this normal wear on a 915 throwout bearing? It has about 10 race hours on it. Thanks David

I see no grease.... Did you have the appropriate grease on it?

Thin layer of regular bearing grease on the nose cone. My guess is not enough... What type of grease should be used? How much are you supposed to use? I didn't want it flying off and onto the clutch disc. Thanks for the input.

The groove in the center of the TOB sleeve is intended for grease. We use hi viscosity Moly.
If the bearing is still good (turns freely without noise) you can replace the guide sleeve and repack the bearing.
Pressing out the guide sleeve is the best way to clean and lubricate the TOB. Hi temp bearing grease (like wheel bearing grease) should be used.

That thing looks banged up even on the outer circumference. Maybe something else is going on? Not sure what that outer face could even touch though.

Agree- match the witness marks on the other part(s) and make sure you fully understand what's going on before solving the problem.

Agree with all the comments. I can't tell that it is contacting anything in the bell housing??? Release fork shows no marks either. Always functioned normally. Thanks

Is there any chance that I have the wrong guide tube? Are there different lengths or sizes? I see two part numbers in the PET. 91511608703 & 92311608703?

Looks like the 923 part is for a 912, and there is a matching TO bearing, release fork, etc. Maybe they are mixed and matched currently? Not sure of what the differences are.

I've seen that rough surface on the outer area on a brand new never used 915 TOB right out of the box. Maybe Sachs is not doing a good job of setting the guide sleeve into the TOB? Doesn't answer the question about the interior, as that's an issue between the sleeve and the guide tube. But the outer roughness contacts nothing at all.

No binding on the fork. Would you sand down the scratches and reuse? It's practically new... Thanks David
