Help Removing Fitting from Block

My scavenge hose from the block to the tank began leaking. I decided to replace the hose and I removed the left side Heat Exchanger to access the hose fitting for removal. The problem is the fitting that's threaded into the block is spinning with the hose fitting. I can't seem to get any type of wrench on it to hold it in place. Between the push rod tube and the block casting, space is limited. Nothing will fit in there to hold the fitting in place while I unscrew the hose fitting. Is there a trick to this? Or a special tool? Thanks in advance

might be time to pickup a cheap wrench and cut and bend to fit the spot.

If your plan is to replace the hose anyway, just cut it off close to the fitting.
A Sawsall with a metal blade works well for the application.
This will allow you to remove the inner and outer fitting without separating them.
You want to be careful not to damage the case trying to jam different wrenched in that tight space.
When they are out, you can separate them in a vise or with two conventional wrenches.

I was trying to reuse the outer steel braided sleeve and fittings...originality thing for my 68 911. So I was hoping not cut the hose. Is the wrench size for the fitting 26mm? I'm willing to grind down in open end wrench if that's what it takes. Any other thoughts?

I didn't want to remove the oil return tube and end up with one 2 piece setup odd ball non factory in appearance oil return tube setup. I trotted down to Harbor Freight and found this set of metric Chinese wrenches for Fifty bucks.

I didn't have to grind the wrench to fit. This is a narrow wrench set. The wrench fit like a glove. The fitting is 27mm hex and the hose fitting is 32mm.

I found that I couldn't get enough leverage to hold the 27mm wrench, so I slid a pipe over it and they separated easily.

If this hose is original to the vehicle then its not going to seal no matter how you try to repair it. With 46 years of use its too long to expect anything rubber to last.

I can help you with a new rubber hose in braided Zinc or Braided SS with the correct fittings & crimp sleeves.





I can even Re-Hose your originals if you like, but not with your original braid. It must be cut short and will not be long enough to be serviceable.

Thanks for the offer. Yes the hose is original and it finally started leaking. Brad Davis here locally says that he should be able to reuse the outer original braid. But you're right, Brad also stated that if it is stuck to the collar it may not be able to be reused. I guess we'll see. Maybe you could PM me with your pricing as my alternative. Thank you

I realized you have M22 oil hose. The photos above are M30. I will have to check my inventory on the smaller size. I hope I have it. For certain I have plain rubber.

If its ss braided I don't think its original...

The hose in my removal pic is original, as is the short hose from the cooler to the tank. The braiding on the hoses is not ss.

The hoses in my first photo are Braided Zinc, as the original. Cannot get the Blue stripe anymore, only the orange stripe.

The SS is an option some people prefer.
