Tie wraps work too.

Oetiker clamps are pretty cool. Porsche used them on pressurized lines. I use a tile nipper to squeeze them - much less expensive (and I had one already) than the prescribed tool.

However, I think I generally don't use anything on most of my vacuum hoses. Like the two on the SC distributor - they don't need any clamping. After all, the have a vacuum inside which is trying to squeeze (a little bit at the end anyway) the tube to the tube over which it is slipped.

However, where a line may be subject to pulling forces, a clamp may be in order. Or on the brake booster lines.

Hadn't thought of heat shrink - interesting.

I've use tiny tie wraps on vacuum hoses on motorcycles and cars for over 20 years and have never had a problem doing so (like Turtle said, they work fine).

Oetiker SS with inner sleeve (avoids damage at clamping area)

Easy to fit, durable, short said best for an application like that (and lightweight )

BTW @ Walt:

I used a crusher where I rounded the cutting edges...

... And I prefer one like this rather than a sideways cutter, easier to find correct clamping force and no damage to the clamp due parallel clamping
