Aeroquip Startlite. You buy the fittings from an Aeroquip dealer and put them on yourself according to the manufacturer's instructions. Or you can use Earls, etc. These days no serious race team uses the braided stainless, it's too heavy, difficult to fabricate and the cut ends will do a number on your skin. Even NASCAR has moved away from Aeroquip, they use ICORE, Goodridge, etc. at like $40 per foot.

I once bought used NASCAR lines for a significant discount and ran a patch through to verify they didn't contain chunks of bearing, this worked great. (I never found any metal.) You can usually find them with end fittings already swaged on.

I cannot say I would use them, or any flexible line for that matter, on the outside of the car. The brass Porsche lines act like a radiator themselves and have proven to be able to stand up to road hazards. So if your brass lines look like a trombone from the battle of Waterloo, you will find it cheaper and easier to stay with the factory approach... or even better the finned ones from Elephant Racing.

anplumbing.com is Earl's Store #1 (that's how they answer the phone, literally) and they sell the kevlar stuff.

AN Ultra-Flex Hose | ANplumbing.com

Note that this hose requires crimped hose ends and therefore it's typically not something you can DIY assemble. T
